    Cool

The evil author returns! BWAHAHAHA! I'm baaack! Okay, so the suspense didn't last that long. I finished with my exam and I went over what I have written so far, and I realized it's not as bad as I had originally thought. So, here's the beginning to Chapter 2 of my very first fan fiction:

    Chapter 2:
    "Awake"
    I'm alive for you,
    I'm awake because of you.
    I'm alive, told you
    I'm awake,
    Swallowing you.
    - "Awake," Godsmack

The intense brightness of the light was blinding as she painfully opened her eyes. For two years, she has experienced nothing but blackness, now all she could see was an endless white oblivion. Though virtually blinded, she could still tell where she was. All of her senses like her once useless eyes are exhilarated by the sensations they experience. Along the ground she can feel the coolness and the texture of wood. Her nose is filled with the familiar scents of incense and oddly enough, the noisome odors of dust and decay. Even her mouth can taste the dryness of the air. Her ears are excited too, by the sounds of the wind rustling through the trees, the songs of birds, and even the sound of her own breathing. These new, yet familiar senses excite her brain, and confuse her at the same time. From the feel of the ground, and the scents and sounds of the atmosphere told her she was within her old childhood home where she grew up with a gypsy troupe of performers. ?But how can this be?? she thought. After all, did not Amanda Sefton die that day when she fought her mother to save her child?s life?
That did not matter to her right now. She felt real enough, and something was wrong. During the assault on her newly awakened senses, she failed to recognize one thing; she knew she was back in her family?s trailer in Germany, so why could she not hear her baby? Still half-blind, she struggles to lift herself from the floor, finding only her muscles as useless as her tired eyes. Frightened only for the fate of her newborn daughter, the young sorceress crawls across the thickly dusted floor to the place her memory tells her she placed the fragile child she believes only minutes ago. She can still picture the tiny, doll-like being looking into her mother?s blue eyes with her own bright yellow ones. It did not matter that she was not human, all that mattered was she was a mother?s child, helpless, innocent, and full of adoration for the person that had cared for her inside her body and now held the tiny person in her arms, peaceful and beautiful. Then, however, came the screams; no amount of material items could keep a child satisfied, when, even at such young an age, the baby knows the mother is in trouble. Those cries and tears filled Amanda with such dread and sadness; now she only wishes to hear those sounds once again. She struggles once again to open her eyes, but with no success. She reaches the shadowed corner her bombarded memory frantically recalls the last place she had seen her daughter. Her fingers run over the dusty blanket and over various toys and bottles, but nothing resembles her child. She keeps struggling to open her eyes, only succeeding in opening them into slits, enough to allow her to make out blurry colors. Her hand finally grasps around a small object, which feels like the tiny mutant. She feels over the soft face, the pointed ears, but there are no life signs. Panicking, she feels for more signs over the small body; finding seams, stuffing; no it was not her baby, just the Bamf doll she had left for her before the battle. Rather than being comforted by the fact that the ?dead? object she held in her shaking hands was not Katerina, Amanda only becomes more upset as the thoughts of what really happened to her begins to creep into her mind. Her eyes finally open to the sight of the old stuffed toy, now blinded by the hot, stinging tears that pour from her eyes. Amidst her sobs, she finally opens her dry mouth, and struggles to let out a quiet scream, ?No!?

Relieved from her frantic state, the crumpled sorceress now realizes that she is not alone. The bright light she had seen before she knew was because of her own eyes being blinded from being in such a long state of inactiveness, but there was another glowing light present in the trailer she had not noticed before. It was an ethereal glow, accompanied by the sense of powerful, magic presence. She knew who it was before turning to greet the person behind her?

?You BITCH!? she painfully cries as she lunges with all her efforts at the female form, only to seemingly pass through her.

She effortlessly tumbles into a kneeling position, trembling as she stares at her hands. Painful memories come to life as she recalls the events of two years past:

?Oh, no,? she anxiously talks, the dryness of her mouth coming through in her weary voice, ?the fight with my mother?the spell?"Oh my God, can it be true? Am I dead??

The ghostly voice of Margali Szardos can be heard behind her:

?It is true that one of us did perish after the events of that fateful day, but fortunately, it wasn?t you, daughter.?

Hesitantly, she turns to face the ghostly image of her mother. Lost for words, she only can stare, frightened and confused as the ghost comes into view.

Elegantly, the wandering spirit floats above the dusty wooden planks; her clothing and hair billow around her intangible body, which is ablaze with a cold blue aura. Bloodless, milky eyes stare back at her daughter?s bright green ones, seeing fear, remorse, and most of all, questions in her pale face. Sensing those questions not to come from her mouth, Margali continues in a haunting, disembodied voice:

?The spell I cast was never met to kill you,? Amanda?s face contorts even more in confusion as her mother answers her unspoken questions, ?It was meant to put you into a deep sleep, to be awoken at the time when either my task of defeating Belasco was finished, or in the case that something were to go wrong.?

Rising to her feet, Amanda turns away in disgust, now noticing the deep, black chasm that lies in the place Margali's heart should be. Confidently, she speaks in a stern tone as she tries to forget the horrible image before her and concentrate on the situation at hand:

"Let me guess, something went wrong," she sarcastically speaks, bracing herself for the answer to come.

If it were possible for a being such as a ghost to show emotion, you could hear great sadness in her disembodied voice as she continued to recount her experience in Limbo:

?Please daughter, forgive me,? she whispers, ?I was such a fool, blinded by my own ego that I failed to recognize the dark aura that slowly surrounded her, I never expected his dark hand was guiding her all that time??

?No, it can't be. She was still innocent, na?ve, you knew she could?ve easy fallen under Belasco?s influence, how dare you??

?I never met for any of this to happen! Even at such a young age, her power exceeds both of us! She was the only one who could?ve stopped him!? the ghostly voice thunders, ?I knew the risks involved, but I thought under my guidance, she could be hidden and avoid Belasco?s power. The last thing I believed is that she would betray me like this!? She looks down at her non-corporal body, still bearing the crimson stains of her murder.

Amanda calms down, realizing now, that like her, Margali is a victim in this as well. She regains her composure and calmly speaks to the floating ghost:

"She murdered you," she whispers, "But, why? What is it she wants?"

"She wants what Belasco wants, the destruction of our family. We pose the greatest threat to his power. He believes that if we die, than he can achieve his ultimate power, and rule every dimension on this earth. As Darkstalker, it is her task to perform those assassinations, each one binding her ever tighter to that power-hungry demon. With each death, Belasco will grow ever more powerful as well as she; the other feeding off the incredible power that she possesses, until no one will be able to stop his dark conquest. I was his first victim, but you were spared because the spell already made you appear to be deceased. But there is still one more life that needs to be extinguished?"

"Kurt," she quietly answers as her fists clench in painful anger, "I won't let that happen. Where is she now, mother?"

"She has already made her way to him."

"Damn it, without being fully healed, I can't reach him in time. But, at least I can warn him of the danger..."

She paces frantically around while the ghost of her mother floats watching, waiting. Remembering she is there, Amanda turns around, tears welling in her eyes as she speaks:

"Thank you mother. I am truly sorry for what happened, but I will make it right. I swear. Auf Wiedersehen, Mama. Ich liebe dich?"

"Goodbye daughter. And I love you too. I always will?"

With that, the shimmering spirit fades away, as a single pair of tears gently splashes against the dusty floor.

What's that you say? Amanda's not dead? Got ya! Oooh, the suspense builds once again...Next, a visitor "drops in" to the X-Mansion who bears a striking resemblence to Nightcrawler. Could this girl be Nightcrawler's key to his salvation, or his execution? PLUS: a cameo by a certain little purple dragon! biggrin

    Wink

Heh, heh. I have something planned for the end, just wait and see. Hmmm, what should we do? Burn her at the stake? Impalement? Beheading? Shooting? Stabbing? Drowning? Or how about all of the above? The possibilities are endless....
